It looks like YG’s time has finally come. At the moment he’s sandwiched between that super hot December leak of “Who Do You Love” featuring Drake and a high-profile remix of the single “My N****” featuring Lil’ Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill and Rich Homie Quan. And today he brings us a video ode to the female buttocks, from Compton.
“Left, Right” features, among other things, a verse and appearance from DJ Mustard, an epic Compton street party and more twerking than Miley Cyrus could even imagine. It also features plenty of words and scenes that will make TV censors balk, including an implied dog fight. And, not to be forgotten, the promise that YG will “buy you that Chanel.”
The track’s production is a callback to that ’90s West Coast style minted by Dr. Dre, as is the video which is very reminiscent of the Compton party scenes we saw in “Nuthin’ But A G Thang” and Snoop Dogg’s “Gin and Juice.” It’s an interesting balance, equally heavy on provocative twerking and showing the united community/party spirt of the neighborhood.
My Krazy Life drops on March 18.
